​István has over twenty years of experience in climate policy development and management on a European and national level.  He is the founding director of the Climate Strategy 2050 Institute and an associate at Klímapolitika Research and Consultancy Ltd. Between 2011 and 2015 he served as the founding director of the Hungarian Energy Efficiency Institute.  Between 2005 and 2011 he worked at the Directorate General for Climate at the European Commission in Brussels, where he worked on emissions trading, adaptation, cohesion policy and the international climate negotiations.  Between 2002 and 2005 he worked in the Hungarian public administration on implementing the EU Emissions Trading Scheme in Hungary. He has degrees in law and political science and urban planning.  He publishes and speaks regularly on matters related to climate policy.
